The first hearing has been held regarding the gas explosion that occurred in San Bruno on September 9, killing 8 and destroying 37 homes.  During the hearing, PG&E came under fire for safety as well as monetary issues. $5 million dollars had been allocated to PG&E to work on the pipeline prior to the explosion. The San Bruno coroner's office has confirmed that last Thursday's fire is responsible for four fatalities. Skeletal remains are currently undergoing forensic testing. Fire Leaves Customers Power-Less

  A Fire in Redding that burned a pump house and several vehicles before spreading to a utility pole temporarily left 1,460 Pacific Gas and Electric Company customers without power on Wednesday.  Power was restored within two hours to all except 6 customers.
